While the Intel Core i3-13100 offers commendable features at an affordable price, its new competitor, Core i3-14100, has already started making its appearance in the U.S. market, promising budget-friendly solutions in Intel’s new generation of processors.
Core i3-13100: Key Features
Launched in January 2023, the Intel Core i3-13100 is part of Intel’s desktop processor segment. Priced at $134, this processor provides 4 cores and 8 threads with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, effectively doubling the core count. The base frequency of the processor is 3400 MHz, and it can reach up to 4500 MHz with Turbo Boost technology. It has a 12 MB L3 cache, and the Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 65 W. The processor uses the LGA-1700 socket and is based on the Raptor Lake architecture, also featuring integrated Intel UHD Graphics 730.
Core i3-14100: A New Competitor
Despite Intel Core i3-14100 not being officially released yet, it is already available for purchase in the U.S. at a price of $150, comparable to the Core i3-13100. The Core i3-14100F model is expected to be even more affordable, though it is not yet on sale. Like most models in the Raptor Lake Refresh series, the Core i3-14100 is almost an exact copy of its predecessor, with a slight increase in frequency from 3.4-4.5 GHz to 3.5-4.7 GHz, which will not significantly impact performance. In terms of technical specifications, the processor remains unchanged: four cores with Hyper-Threading and a 60 W TDP. Considering the price, the Core i3-14100 represents an attractive offering, especially compared to the more expensive Core i5 models, which are about 40% more costly.
Thus, Intel continues to expand its range of desktop processors, offering both tried-and-tested budget solutions like the Core i3-13100 and new options such as the Core i3-14100. These processors promise respectable performance for everyday tasks at an attractive price, making them an ideal choice for users seeking economical yet powerful solutions.
