NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER Listed by European Retailer
It seems that someone at the European retail store ProShop is either too excited or got confused about the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 SUPER lineup, as they have renamed all their RTX 4090 cards to RTX 4090 S. The retailer lists about 24 video cards with the SUPER suffix.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER presentation is scheduled for January 8th, and will include only three video cards: RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER. So far, there are no reports about 4090 S, and while NVIDIA could surprise and announce it, there is no information or indication of such a product yet.
Retail outlets have already received information about the new cards, so they are aware of the NVIDIA RTX 40 SUPER series, but it seems that ProShop employees got confused and made an error by listing RTX 4090 models as SUPER. Note that all the listings for RTX 4090 S are actually standard RTX 4090 models, and even the prices are the same, so this appears to be an honest mistake, but it’s the first time a retailer has listed a S model, confusing it with a regular RTX 40.
It would be a surprise if NVIDIA announces that in addition to the three cards, they are also preparing a GeForce RTX 4090. Such a high-performance video card is likely to again be limited in China due to its performance rating, far exceeding the RTX 4090 TPP (Total Processing Power), which has already been banned from export to China.
NVIDIA is working on a special variant exclusive to China, known as RTX 4090 D, which will have a reduced design but deliver higher performance than the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.
NVIDIA will introduce the RTX 40 Super lineup before CES 2024
However, information has emerged that:
The Nvidia RTX 4090 Super is an upcoming addition to NVIDIA’s GPU lineup, leveraging their advanced AD102 architecture. Although specific details are still largely based on leaks and speculation, here’s what we know so far:
- Release Date: The RTX 4090 Super is expected to be officially introduced just before CES 2024, specifically on January 8th, 2024. This aligns with Nvidia’s typical release patterns and the timing of major tech events.
- Specifications:
- CUDA Cores: 18,432
- Memory Bus: 384-bit
- Bandwidth: 1,152GB/s
- VRAM: 24GB GDDR6
- Total Graphics Power (TGP): 450W
- Price: Around $1,999 These specifications suggest that the RTX 4090 Super will have slightly more CUDA cores compared to the rumored RTX 4090 Ti, and a power draw of 450W, which is substantial but in line with high-end GPUs.
- Market Positioning: The RTX 4090 Super will be part of the new RTX 40-series Super lineup, which is set to include several models. It will start at approximately 2,099.90 Euros for the 24GB version, with prices varying based on different sellers.
- Listings and Rumors: The RTX 4090 Super has been listed by a European retailer, ProShop, showcasing around 24 different versions of the card. However, it’s important to note that much of this information is based on leaks and retailer listings, and official details from Nvidia are still awaited.
In summary, the Nvidia RTX 4090 Super is poised to be a formidable GPU with significant improvements in performance and memory capabilities over its predecessors. Its expected release in early 2024 positions it as a major player in the high-end GPU market, competing with the latest offerings from other major manufacturers.
